Silly question time.... Are there comparable decently priced shock absorbers for Bilsteins? Need to replace shocks on my 1984 C4 and can't really afford Bilsteins right now.
Shocks come.in at a variety of price points. Koni, kyb, no names from rock auto... All depends on what sort of performance you want out of them and what you're willing to spend.
About a year ago I sold my 95 Miata that I purchased from the original owner in 2003 with 74,000 miles. The first thing I did was install a set of KYB adjustables. Over the years I put just under 30K miles on the car. They performed perfectly. The next shocks on my 91 C4 will be KYBs.
I just saw where Rock Auto is offering a $50 gift card for purchasing a set of KYB's so that might help the pocketbook a bit. My experience with KYB's has been positive also. I would have no qualms about putting them on a C4. Are they the best available? No, but bang for the buck is in play as far as I'm concerned. Hasn't that always been the Corvette's calling card? BANG FOR THE BUCK!
