Refinishing the wheel well liners
Has anyone tried refinishing their wheel well liners? I was thinking about cleaning them real good to get the oil off and then using some spray-in bed liner or something along those lines (with a smooth texture preferrably).
Any suggestions or people who have attempted this?

Re: Refinishing the wheel well liners (ninetyfivevette)
Believe it or not...this is what I do in my wheel wells.....I spray a good amount of armoral into the well, up to the point of it dripping on my deck..garage floor...let it set awhile...then wipe it off with a cloth.....comes out glossy and clean.....lookin good....
You might try this...
Just my humble thoughts....

dont use the bed liner stuff, just repaint them. pull them off, clean them up, sand them down , clean them again and paint them semi-flat black. just like new.

They aren't supposed to be painted. I use the stuff that I put on my tires. I don't keep using the same thing either........ right now it's "no touch" but just about anything works well. I have cleaned them with steel wool though because I drive my car every day and repaint the hood every now and then so it gets overspray sometimes.

I agree with "oldace84"'s ArmorAll treatment but with a slight twist. Immediately after washing the car and wetting down the wheel well liners, I lightly spray the wet liners with ArmorAll and just let the mixture air dry. They dry evenly with a nice sheen and look great. :seeya

Re: Refinishing the wheel well liners (Eric 96)
Cool, lots of interesting ideas!
I tried using armour all, but I just have not been impressed with how long it lasts. It rains a lot up here in the Northwest, so the armour all tends to wash away fairly quick. I imagine if I painted them they would get just as dirty just as fast, but I think I would stand a better chance of bringing them back to black if there was a tough non-porous coating on the liners.
Perhaps the spray-in bed liner is not a good idea.. Perhaps epoxy paint?
I will give some of the non-painting alternatives a try when the weather warms a bit.
Thanks!

I would not use the bed liner stuff. I just clean mine with every car wash. When done with the paint I use a different rag and wipe them down. This way they don't get too messy. May need to use some simple green to clean them if they haven't been cleaned in a while. If I had to paint them i'd prolly use semi-gloss or flat black.

I painted my rear and front wheel well liners last summer. I cleaned them up first, then used black bumper and trim paint. It is a satin paint designed for black moldings and flexible plastics. They come out very   . I am very :D

Contrary to what people are saying, I don't see a problem with using the spray-in bedliner. Just make sure you do it off the car, because once it's on something, it's NOT coming off without sandpaper.

I have always had good results with the following: Use a mixture of Simple Green and water to clean the wheel wells. I also use a toilet brush with long bristles to scrub all the nooks and crannies. Let it air dry then use a foam tire shine product to coat the wells. Wait a few minutes and wipe them down. The gloss seems to last a week or better.

Re: Refinishing the wheel well liners (ninetyfivevette)
I used tire foam after a good cleaning with diluted Simple Green. But after spraying the foam, I wait a minute and wipe the wells down with a rag instead of letting them drip dry. This gives a more even and lower sheen coverage.

Any pics of the end result? My wheel well liners are beyond fixing with a tire or trim dressing

Like others have posted above I use simple green and a scrub brush. Rinse really well and let dry. Use a heavy coat of ArmorAll let sit for a few minutes and then wipe dry.
I do this perhaps twice a year and in between I just wipe down with a rag each week when I wash the car.
I like the lemon pledge idea and will have to try that
PS: I agree with stillthere about the reasons for NOT using a spray in bed liner. Don't do that.
