Been about 10 years since my last C3 Corvette and thinking about a C4 for a while and saw one sitting by the road with a for sale sign while on a drive in the country. Nobody around but was able to get hold of the seller that night and the car was her deceased fathers so doesn't know much about. She said it had a brake light on the dash on but everything seemed to work ok. I'm going to see the car tomorrow and wonder if this is something that should scare me off? Thanks
Might be something as simple as a parking brake switch or wiring or possibly the parking brake is just engaged a couple of clicks. Another thing to consider is a faulty ABS pump or wiring or even something easy like a wheel speed sensor being faulty or having debris built up on the magnetic end of the hall effect se sensor.
With that said, it wouldn't scare me off. It sounds like the car was once loved and could be again. Would love to see pictures of the car!
My guess is that the E brake handle is engaged and they don't know how it works. So, they think it is not engaged. If this is true, they likely have burned up the read pads - or the cables are stretched. Neither is a deal breaker.
Read up on how the Ebrake works (youtube videos abound) then go buy it.
I saw your other thread reference buying the car and I want to congratulate you again! It's an exceptional car! Definitely keep us updated on what you find with the brake light.
It turns out it is the parking brake light that is on, got it registered this morning so can now drive and will figure out light in next day or 2, still working on clean up which is fun part seeing how it is turning out.

Roger that. I don't know if the parking brake system is the same between your '94 and my '96, but this info from my owner's manual may be of some use to you:
