I'M TRYING TO FIND THE SMALL STRUTS THAT MOUNT NEAR THE FRONT BY THE HEAD LIGHTS THAT MAKE THE HOOD MUCH EASIER TO OPEN AND CLOSE.
I FOUND A VIDEO ON "MIKES 84" Y0U TUBE BUT IT'S 4 YEARS OLD AND THE PART NUMBERS HE GIVES DON'T COME UP.
ANY HELP OR NUMBERS WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED. iI REPLACED THE 2 ABOUT 3 YEARS AGO AND THEY MADE NO DIFFERENCE DON'T REMEBER WHERE I BOUGHT THEM.
THANKS
FRANK

I got 'em on Rock Auto. There are several options, the OEM / Interchange Number is 14043065.
They're so short, I think they may help but to be honest it just may be me convincing myself that they do.

I installed the small struts on my 91 along with a new big strut. It made an incredible difference. GM stopped installing the mounting hardware in 90 or 91. Since your C4 is an 85, you should have the mounting studs. Does your car still have the old worn out struts? If they have been removed you will probably need the washers and clips to attached the new ones. Any good hardware store should have them. The 85 has the scissor style hood prop on the right side, so you only get lifting assist from the small struts. In 87 GM added the big hydraulic strut on the left side.
To all have replied ....a wealth of info, thank you i'll order this weekend and let you all know how they work.
Paets geek assures me i will be able to open it with no more than 2 fingers

what can i believe? Will i be able to open it by myself? Right now, i can't open it without help. Don't know if i mentioned it; i'm a 77-year-old disabled veteran and not what i used to be.

It will be much easier after it's picked up a foot or so, but not 2 fingers till then
Cruisinfanatic is correct. I just installed two new small struts on my "84 and it helps after the first 12-18" of lifting. It also keeps the hood open even if the scissor strut is not locked. I had mine up on quickjacks yesterday installing new air dam and I was not able to fully open the hood due to low hanging garage door. Even then the hood was willing to stay open by itself, so it is more about not letting the hood fall on you vs easier opening. (I propped it up with a stick anyway). Quickjacks are the bomb!
