My '89 is the first vette I've owned and I'm new to them. Mine seems to have a built in radar detector. I've never found this as an option or seen pics of anyone elses car with this. There are two banks of lights in front of the shifter and there are two holes where the overdrive switch is on the 4+3s for the alarm speakers which are under the plate. They appear to be Bel brand?? I have pics but having gotten to the level of posting pics yet. Has any one ever seen this or have any info on this. I would like to get them working. Thanks
.. did they have radar detectors back then?
ive never heard of it.. but whoknows..
also, previous owner coulda done some nifty work
and hid it really good from cops eyes
The previous owner must have installed it. Bel's are pretty good -- I have a bel remote unit in my 92. You may want to check what control panel you have for it, you can get an updated one from Bel for a Fee.
Bels are good but mine sounds like a bunch of birds when it goes off.
I had a Bel Remote unit in one of my old mustangs. I had it mounted under the driver console and ran the wire to the unit through the firewall. The actual "detector" was mounted in the grill.
Its wierd. There are two seperate controls like a front and rear sensor. I can only get one to work. There is a sensor behind one of the parking lights I haven't found one in back yet.
