Marine head gaskets are just way better quality, and also have a stainless steel fire ring. Most head gasket fire rings are steel. They also have a anti corrosion film on them, but thats secondary as to why I use them. They are meant to be used at max cylinder pressures all day long.... Besides 100s of marine engines, I've used these on quite a few 'hot rod' builds, never had a failure on any of these engines, car or boat. I only use what I know and trust, and these gaskets never failed me.

Well, I did not know that! Maybe you could help the vet with maybe a part number for his engine or at least an outlet that sells marine gaskets. Thanks, Dan

Sierra marine has them, but their mobile website sucks... I have none of my books at home to give part #s, but I can on Monday if need be. Normally I have my laptop home on weekends, but we just finished winterizing and shrink wrapping over 200 boats, so I need a little break...
Thanks but I was just interested, I am sticking with Fel pro 501SD, I am already deep enough. I was watching a few videos and looking at the FSM dissasembly and I am 2 exhaust manifolds, 1 dipstick and 1 bracket from the heads when I do the lifters.
Should 36 year old rocker studs be replaced ??? It does seem that older 350's have an occaisional failure. Do they magnaflux or zyglo the heads normally ??

They are more than likely fine, but you (or the shop) could easily convert them to screw in style studs.
And if the heads are at the shop, yeah by all means have them magnafluxed.
