Default Interesting...

I'm behind the curve I guess...interesting ...said for years there had to be a reason Mercury didn't adapt the LS platform to marine engines...ill see how one goes next year, but im definitely curious on this.
Other companies have maranized the LS but not Mercury.

I've wondered that myself. I used to own a Silverton 34C with twin 6.0's, 375HP each. Great engines. I was especially impressed with the 6 bolt shrouded mains in these blocks. Great for high-rev power, but the boat was an absolute donkey around the docks with very little low-end torque. I'm now running a Chaparral 270 Signature, with 7.4L MPI 385HP on a Bravo 3 outdrive. Lots of low-end torque makes single-engine docking a breeze. The lazy old big block certainly does have its advantages, despite its advanced age!

Yeah the 454s are hard to beat.
Interesting thing about this engine is the flat plane crank....

Yeah, that's going to sound just odd when it's motoring on plane. Not normal for a V8! I often thought about putting my MPI engine in a car, like a Nova or something, but I don't think it will fit under the hood! So efficient with that intake though...
