Default A little electrical help...

I have my 87 back at my mechanics for three issues: I have annoying rattle in the drivers door that sounds like it is the window glass rattling. I bought set of 4 window anti rattling pieces{might as well do both windows} that are supposed to solve this noise. My Indie will pull the door panels off and hope whatever he finds will be fixed by these or some other creative repair {this guy is good}.

Second it's time fore another full synthetic oil change {more preventative maintenance than mileage}.

The third and most perplexing issue is a dash light illumination problem. Naturally it is purely intermittent...
With no rhyme or reason the instruments go dark yet by looking closely you can see that they areal still functioning and the two green signal arrows light up like high noon. Looks like this:

It will stay like this for 2 to 20 minutes, shutting off the ignition and restarting doesn't seem to have any immediate impact. Then either while driving or the next time I start it after sitting for short while they come back on as bright as ever. WTF? I'm thinking a loose ground as they work about 99% of the time. Anyone encountered this nonsense? Any suggestion what to check/look for? As I said my Indie is good but intermittent electrical gremilns are always a bitch to find but once diagnosed usually fairly easy to fix.

TIA and I will report back if and when we find the culprit.
