Default 1988 4+3 Shift **** Replacement

I need a new **** for my 88 4+3 with the OD button in the shifter. Nobody has them anymore, was wondering if a 84-85/89-96 could be modified to fit ? Thinking I could drill a hole for the OD switch rod and the shift pattern button would be held in place on the rod clip mount ? I really need to figure out a solution, I pretty much have restored the whole interior but the shifter **** is all worn out and looks bad.

They have the early and late shift ***** but they do not have the year 85L-88 shift *****, so I’m still searching for a solution.

I actually thought about taking it to a upholstery shop and see if they could make one, but this looks like it will fit better and probably cost the same as the shop would charge.

There are a few available similar to the TopFlight offering for less $$. I'd maybe visit the shop and ask first then shop around a bit.

TF seems to have a 25% off through the 30th?

RedLine has a 49$ offering but you need to specify C4 so that you get a C4 vertical seam vs the C5 style.

TF 25% off is for orders over $350, I will check out Redline, thanks for the info. I think I will see if the upholstery shop can do something with it before I spend $75 + shipping for a little piece of leather and thread. Just glad I finally found an option.

I’m still looking actually. Thinking a regular one can be drilled to accommodate the OD switch rod. Had a few other more pressing needs to get straightened out before I could get back to working on the shift ****. I have some time this week, so hopefully I can find a solution.

I had the same issue a few years ago with my 86. I did what you are contemplating, just drilled the needed hole. Worked great for me up to the point when I changed over to a 6 speed.

Thanks for the info ! Were you able to use the OD switch cover button ? Did the new **** have the protruding nubs to snap the switch button cover in place ?
