I believe 84-89 can interchange parts/columns fairly easy. Telescopic steering went away after 89 and the turn signal canceling cam and signal switch arm assembly changed in 1990. The rack assembly and ignition cam gears stayed the same throughout all the years. Most of the internal bits are the same and shared in basically every GM vehicle from that era.
Thanks, and I will likely be exactly where you are pointing, but if I could get the whole thing, I could swap it out and not tear it down to replace parts. I am wondering if the entire column was used in other models
If you have an '87 only an '86 'vert or very late coupe (maybe) & through '89 (either) would be a direct exchange. There are mast jacket and other upper column differences. If you have telescopic issues in the upper column some Cadillac/Olds/Buick internals could work. Much depends upon your needs You would have to check any '86 column to see if it has the lock support plate or NOT(GM# 7804915). GM SPO Parts says coupes do and 'verts don't, your '87 shouldn't have it. Use eBay to ID the part I mentioned. Often that part is mentioned for earlier Corvette but it's in '84, '85 and theoretically '86 coupes. Much depends on what parts you actually need.
