I removed my spare tire and the carrier.

So I just keep a plug kit in the car.

If it shreds, I have a full size spare at home. I'd just get on the horn and have my son drop it off to me if I was stuck and it was too bad to plug.

I don't go far in the car anyway. Just enough to get some enjoyment out of the thing on an evening cruise and get the oil warmed up enough to keep the motor and the battery satisfied.

I've considered just reinstalling the carrier itself without the spare, but the suspension just looks too darned good back there without the carrier. I try to keep it pretty clean and shiny under there. As best I can do by hand anyway.

You definitely should carry a jack, though. Mine didn't come with the OEM jack, but I picked a nice one up on eBay. There's a lot of things that might require the use of a jack on the side of the road besides a flat tire.

I'm trying to remember where the jack is ... I _think_ on my 90 the jack is on top to the spare, while the handle is behind the seat.

I have AAA and I'd recommend that.

My insurance policy covers towing. If I get a flat that I can't plug up and then put.p up with the compressor I carry, I get it towed.

That was locations mind was located and once I needed it, in 24 years of owning my C4, what a bitch getting that big tire in that rear and lifting into place to secure it.
I should of just called AAA, but new the time they would arrive I would be home having a cool one.

Your tire carrier will hold a full size tire, and a jack will fit nicely behind the driver's seat.
The carrier has a 2-position hinge.
Jacks are readily available..... see eBay, etc.

Had a nail in the right rear and told myself "no problem I'm in my driveway I'll just plug it". Turned out to be a real pain because I couldn't get in position to get leverage to push the reamer fully in. I ended up pulling the tire so I could plug it properly. Of course all that means I had to get the floor jack and ended up needing my cordless impact wrench because when I had new tires put on almost two years ago they must have tightened the crap out of lug nuts Why couldn't it have been a front tire . I do have AAA in case I'm ever caught with such a situation on the highway.
