Today I shipped my instrument cluster to BATEE for rebuild, and my "to do" list for the '92 got shorter. You have just put that list back to its previous length. Thanks, those look like a big improvement.
(Actually I first have to confirm it's just burned out bulbs to deal with, and if nothing worse than that, then replace them with the LED's. So my list is growing instead of shrinking)
Thanks for the suggestion, I just ordered that. Even got 5% off and delivery tomorrow. Of course now the project list grows even more, with a 12-piece assortment!
I ordered last night about 9PM, they arrived today before noon. Ordered the 12-piece assortment in the link, that's what I paid for, but they actually sent me a 16-piece assortment. Can't beat that!
I see an ACE which has the toggle switches and covers in stock, there's some other stuff I need so will get there over the weekend and may get into the underhood project next week. Obviously there needs to be a hole drilled in the outer housings. Does the inner bracket need to be modified for the switch to fit, or just wiggle and push into place?
How do you turn the hood lights on and off without any modifications
When you raise the hood, they should come on, There's a switch under the housing, like a mercury switch but doubt there's mercury in it. If no power to the light housings, there's a 10-amp fuse on the left front side marker light.
mines came that way so I guess if you show a picture of the original location it would help
Not the best quality but it's cold and windy out there today. The screw at the top is for the lens. The clip at the bottom is the top clip for the light bulb (or LED) The silver thing just above that is the switch. Probably a brass or steel ball in there, when the hood is down it rolls one way with no connection. When the hood is up, it rolls to the other end (which is now lower) and connects to a contact, completing the circuit. The bracket you show on yours looks like it would work fine, but AFAIK it's not factory.
Yea, you would need to make up a bracket and run wire to the location of your choice with a toggle switch… it’s seems like a pretty easy fix
I like the idea of one switch to do the on/off, offhand I can't think of a reason to have one on and one off at the same time. that's a nice protective top on your switch but what keeps the underside dry?

The toggle is held in place by a tightened nut that should seal some. With the waterproof cover I sure can't see many ways water could get in. Not a really wet area anyway. Dan EDIT: While I have very bright LED's in mine and a switch on each I also have good lighting in my garage. I never use them in the garage. I guess they are there for the feared nighttime roadside breakdown that has never happened to me.

Slideshow: A Jaguar designer's personal project imagines what a modern front-engined Corvette might look like if Chevrolet revisited the golden age of the Stingray.
