Default VIN tag

Is there any non destructive way to access the vin tag beside removing the windshield? Mine is rusty and it bothers me..lol

Could try the old school solution to an annoying check engine light…..black electrical tape (in this case a weather proof substitute)

I’ve always wanted to get my hands on a dentists drill. Tiny little right angle drill with a short bit. I bet that would fit but unfortunately not an option lol.

I might try and cut on the interior behind the vin to see if I can access it..clean it then tack the metal back.

Not great but better. I think I can live with this. Got to the tag from the inside using a brass brush from my gun cleaning kit of all things. Good ole 357 brush..lol

It's a big issue for some of us unfortunately. The vin tag in my 84 is pretty rusty and I've been looking for a good way to clean it without damaging the dash or the windshield. The brass brush from a gun cleaning kit seems like a viable option as I have several. I think it was a great idea and I'm definitely going to give it a try this weekend!

You probably will need to remove the dash pad. Here how i did it..and yes it roughed up the foam a little.
