Does anyone know the correct hardware that fastens the rocker panel to a 1990 vette? Entering my 90 for NCRS flight judging and the hardware indicated in the TIMJG doesn’t seem right. It calls out for hex head bolts on top where those holes are countersunk and recessed head screws on the bottom where the material is flat. Any pictures would be appreciated.
The upper I don't recall but I believe I have notes some where for correct Auveco and also dimensions. @RPO Joe might just pull one for you from his '96 and do snapshots like he did for the bottoms.
I checked out the thread. Thanks. That’s what I have there now and seems right. I have 4 stainless torx head screws holding the top in. I’m pretty sure the manual is incorrect.

My car is a '96 LT1 Coupe. The screw is a T15 Torx, looks like stainless steel and is non-magnetic. Hope this helps.
Thanks RPO Joe. That’s what’s on my car. Think the manual is incorrect. If you look close photo that goes along with the paragraph even shows stainless screws. I don’t think GM would make that kind of change and put stainless on the ZR-1 and black hex head bolts on the other cars.
There's a number of items in the manual that are incorrect. My car is, essentially, a one-owner car over 24 years. Sold to an individual who could not afford the car and a bud bailed him out and sold it on Mecum auction. So, it is a very orginial car.
The judging manual calls for a spring-type rad hose clamp, while my car (that had orgininal hoses on it) hand a worm screw clamp.
The judging manual also calls for a brown tag with the engine suffix on the side of the oil pan. As you can see, there isn't one on my car nor any evidence that there once was one as the pan is not refinished.
Gcthree, and there’s a number of items in the 90-91 manual that are incorrect as well. The tool in the photo is clearly not a hardtop removal tool ( my 90 is a convertible and I have a hardtop for it) it’s a center cap removal tool for an 88 or 89 maybe an 87 too. Pretty glaring mistake. I’ve brought some of the mistakes to the attention of the team leader. Plan on going to the regional in Mass. at the end of May.🤞
I am having my '96 LT4 judged at the Mid Atlantic NCRS meet at Zip Products in April. Should be interesting.
I was missing the wheel lock instruction sheet and the printed bag in which it and the locks came in the car. I replicated the instruction sheet and it came out great. There's certainly no NOS bags around so I replicated it by replicating the font, printing it out, then sliding it inside the bag and tracing the fonts using a fine tip sharpie. From 1 foot away, it's convincing....
Also did an oil/filter change today as one of the final preps. Oil filter must have been put on with an impact wrench. Used a long screwdriver the give the base of the filter a few raps in the right direction and it came right off.
I refinished an AC Delco filter to the correct appearance per the judging manual. I created the label on the filter on my PC.
I just bought an instruction sheet, which I was missing also, today. Found it on eBay as part of an owners manual kit that the seller was willing to sell separately.
Your handiwork looks great. Good luck in April!
