There's this open thick wire under my driver side door, and the closest thing I could find to it at autozone was a 12 gauge. I've got a couple leading theories as to what it is but I'm not completely sure as I've yet to find a wiring diagram online. Any help would be greatly appreciated 🙌
Probably the power and ground for the Antilock Brake System. It runs from the battery area, outside the car under the LH rocker panel and into the ABS compartment inboard of the LR wheel well.. IIRC, the front sensor wiring should be in the harness with the power wires.
Most (all?) years should turn on the Service ABS light if there is no power, because it won't pass the self test. Maybe the bulb has been removed?
Im not sure about the bulb being out, given the state of the car right now I'm sure it is 😂. The car isn't currently running as I'm in the middle of a monster of a restoration project and the car seems to be shorting out somewhere. After about 10 minutes all the lights go out and if I turn the key the fuel pump doesn't run (those are pretty much the only 2 indicators of life the car has). You seem to be spot on though. I had just thought it was power going to rear speakers or the taillights but I couldn't find any wires that matched. Thank you very much 🙏

If your ABS works, or there is another harness with the sensor and power wiring in it, could those be an aftermarket addition that has been abandoned? Such as a power amp? Running power from the battery for an amp in the cargo area outside the car, under the rocker panel is a lot easier than trying to run it through the interior. Just a WAG.
You didn't say what year (no newer than 1990), but if it is an 84 or 85, it is definitely an add-on because these 2 years don't have ABS.
