Back in '95 I sold my '85 Coupe and later bought a '98 C5 Pewter Corvette Convertible with a 6 speed. I sold that and bought a '96 Impala SS that I sold a couple of years ago. So I needed a daily driver so I bought this '86 Corvette Convertible with an automatic. Nice working digital dash, nice dash pad, decent door panels, new gray seat covers. Engine runs smooth, trans shifts nice. I've always like the C4. Convertible was a bonus if you want to call it one. Came with a new Ecklers carpet kit. It needs a lot of detailed cleaning. I don't like the wheels, exhaust tips and height from the ground but it's a good driver with no CELs.
Congratulations on your new 86, the car looks to be in really nice shape overall!! I'm not a huge fan of the wheels either, but if the price was right, I completely understand. Did the previous owner install the new carpet kit? Is the rest of the interior in as nice of condition as the exterior? Do you know any of the car's history?
Here's some inside pics. I took pics right after I parked it in the driveway. It needs a thorough cleaning but it's not thrashed inside. New carpet kit is still in box. I don't have much history other than it was a mature couple whose husband passed. I bought it from an acquaintance whose corvette I did some engine work on and mentioned they had this car for sale. It's supposed to have a rebuilt motor installed in the past. It has 142K on the odometer

Reason: update
Nice looking vert. If its factory paint I believe it is medium gray metallic. GM gave 86 buyers a wide color choice, 17 colors if you count the 2 tone choices. I agree on the wheels, the 88 thru 90s are a much better design.
The interior is quite nice for the mileage! I love the sport seats as well! I think the car will look great with the new wheels and the new carpet set, though from the pictures the carpet looks to be in pretty nice shape. I think you did really well on the car? I like it!
I found a killer deal on Craigslist, just a few miles from me. Original 1990 ZR1 wheels, 17x11 rears and 17x9.5 fronts. I want to polish these wheels. Tires were Pirelli but are shot. So I put 'em on. Direct bolt on. Agent86 has them on his car. He mentioned he put spacers on the front to move the tire out toward the hood fender lip to help match the rears since the rears are flush if not slightly pushed out from the body. Man, what steamrollers the rears look like when viewed from the back. Still, I like the look. The tire size is 315-35x17 rears and 275-40x17 fronts.
