Default 1987 L98 oil pan trouble

Purchased a new oil pan as mine had a screw hole in it. The new one is hitting the oil pickup on the windage tray. Could I just trim it back enough to fit and it not cause oil pickup problems? It's about 2in id have to trim on the tray.

Is engine out of car? If not you might have to finangle the pan onto place by moving it up and forward then into place.

Yes the engine is out of the car. I figured I can just cut the tray back a few inches to make room. It's plenty deep Enough. It's for a SBC but I didn't know Corvette was different on the inside.

Trim what you need to. It won't hurt anything.

I've been there. I ended up getting a used Corvette pan. Even after trimming it never fit right. Maybe you'll have better luck.

So I'll ask the obvious question. Your old pan had a screw hole so you bought a new one and now want to butcher that? A screw hole? Really? What's wrong with a spot weld?
