Default Under dash plastic panel

Maybe a long shot question. On my 86 the driver side underside panel has a metal housing for the floor light. On the passenger side it's either missing or never had the metal housing. It's just a plastic lens and bulb. Am I missing the metal housing or did gm not put one on the passenger side?

Pretty sure both sides had it. It was for heat protection from the bulb. If you went LED wouldnt be needed except to direct the light better
