Gather 'round, boys and girls, whilst I tell ye my story...
In 2001 my son and I flew to Phoenix and drove home in an '89 Corvette convertible I bought from the original owner. In 2010 I sold the '89 to a lady who wanted it for her adult son. I drove it to her house and parked it her garage with the cover on it. I go through a couple Corvettes (presently have a '66 roadster) and, last week, the '89 popped up on marketplace. I go see it, talk to the seller (the son of the woman I sold it to) and find out it sat where I parked it until 2015 when she gave it to him. He drove it for a couple years and parked it a couple years ago.
The price was right so I bought it back. The battery is dated 2015 (already replaced) and the tires (next on the list) are the same ones I put on the car in 2005 and the car only has 7000 miles more than when I sold it. Unfortunately, he didn't take the best care of it but, the price was right, so it is back in my garage.
Did the same thing with this 96 polo green roadster, bought it in April 2003 and sold it in Aug. 2021 when I found the polo green zr1 I had been looking for, by pure chance and luck I was able to buy it back in March 2023, it got away from me once it won't happen a second time.

Nice looking pair, TOM65, the vert's wheels are on the wrong side thou.
Similar story with a twist. Bought my '90 ZF vert new and in 2013 sold it locally to buy a new C6 LT1 that the dealers were selling for under $40K. I didn't like it so I sold it and found a nice '74 stick roadster. Two years later my son (who lives several hours away) calls to tell me the '90 just showed up for sale on CL and would I please buy it for him if it was still in good shape. After buying it I called him and said I have good news and bad news. First, I bought the car; second, I'm keeping it and giving you the '74 because the clutch is too hard and your mom can't drive it anymore. He wasn't happy about it but has learned to love it. So the '90 just sits in my garage, waiting for the day when it will join the '74. I can't drive anymore but enjoy riding in the '90 when my son comes to visit on occasion..
