Default Convertible paint code location

Hey guys, trying to buy a little touch up paint for my 86 convertible. Anyone know where the paint code is hiding? I checked door jambs, center console lid, and under the targa top cover section, no luck.

Are you able to locate the SPID tag? It is listed on the lower left side. If. Of I am sure you can find the paint code fairly easily by searching google

An '86 SPID is thought to be underside of console lid door but is it actually required for 'touch up'? Probably not! What color do you believe the car to be? Do the jambs match the exterior panels? If yes then it's maybe safe to assume it OE/color. There's NOT that many choices, post a couple snapshots!

Located on the lower left side of the door? Or somewhere on the body of the car?

I believe the car is its original color, as it is all black everywhere. The only reason I question what color to get is I went to buy some black paint from Automotivetouchup.com and they had two different black paints for my Corvette. I know black paint is pretty easy to match, I might just be other thinking this😬

Did you look under the console compartment door?

You don't need that source! You can buy easily 'local'. Code 41 WA-8555 will get you the correct black for your car. That source you used has some very intimidating information. Had you found the SPID you would have been all set but using the Code 41 or WA-8555 will get you 'black'.

I did check under the center console door. Unless there is a different compartment on my car I don't know of?

This is very good to know, thanks for finding thr code for me. What do you mean by "local"? I've used Automotivetouchup before with decent success, but if I can get paint locally that would be excellent.

I'd think it very likely that some of the national chains do touch up paint. Duplicolor brand probably. It's certainly more expensive than it used to be but what isn't! Actually for WA-8555 I'd think even a GM dealer would maybe have it.
