I’m a relatively new owner of a ‘95 convertible. The convertible top won’t open. I think I’m doing everything right.
1. released latches by windshield
2. folded in Velcro flaps on side
3. pushed button under rear deck to release the rear pins
4. press button to release rear deck.
I hear the actuators trying to release the pins but the rear of the top won’t open. Any ideas?
On 92's the pins for the actual top release are released via a lever behind the headrest of the driver's seat on the decklid, not a button. The buttons (all 4 of them on the 92's at least) only release the decklid itsself, not the top. If that's not the case and its a button like you said, again on a 92's there's a spot on the underside of the decklid, roughly in the middle, where 3 cables meet. One for the lever, and one going to each decklid latch. I've had the bolt that joins the 3 cables fall out in the past and make it so the top can't be released. Check that as well.
The pins are released by pulling the manual lever. The deck lid is released with the battery powered actuators. If you are having trouble with the deck lid releasing, try putting some downward pressure on it as you press the release button and quickly releasing the pressure.
I have a 96.. On mine when you push the button to release the rear deck you have to kind of press down on it or jerk it a bit to get it to release when you hear it click.. Hope that helps..
Scottsdale, on my 93, there is a manual rear deck release cable/lever. It is on the passenger side on the floor beneath the deck and way back. I hope your model year has this, also.
The lever is horizontal.
I will try to post a picture tomorrow.
