Default Front Wheel Bearing Fun

I'm one that likes to pre-plan the parts I use on my car, preventative is my thing. So I'm aware that 93-02 F-Body hubs will work on our cars with a little love. This is nice in two way's, price and manufacturer. I'm very **** with COO for the parts that go on my car. Timken is now made in China, SKF is made in Korea. What I haven't heard much about on the forum is anyone using the F.A.G./SCHAEFFLER hubs. As I'm also a BMW guy, F.A.G. is the OE manufacturer for our hubs and are usually made in Slovakia. I've never had one issue with them and will probably pick up a set for my 96 and sit them on a shelf until I do my full suspension overhaul. Just curious if anyone was even aware they are an option and are made in Europe compared to the Asian variety supplied form the other manufacturers.

I have seen the Schaeffler for the rear on Rock Auto but not the front. I am an ex-Bmw guy and also have a habit of collecting parts for the future. If you find a part number for the front hubs I would be very interested in that. Mine are currently in good condition but I suspect they are original from 1989 so having a good quality replacement on the shelf would be wise.

Owning a BMW makes anyone start collecting parts doesn't it lol. My wife says it's a sickness.

The Schaeffler part number is 102062. RockAuto has them for $93.79 each.

Awesome! I added that link to my parts shopping list. Out of curiosity, what vehicle did you find it under? I cannot help but wonder if the wheel speed sensor is also the same.

BMW's are a sickness, so I think your wife is right. My wife loved my 2001 E38 Shorty, she had an Infinity G37s at the same time and always wanted to take the Bimmer on any trip we took. I had a love/hate relationship with that car, it took me a few years to make it dependable and about as perfect as anyone can make one. I hated selling it at the time but today I am glad I did and won't have another one unless it is a much older one.

Edit, I found it, 4th gen F-Body

Ah lucky man. The E38 Shorty was peak BMW. I have a 2003 E39 530I with the sport package. M5 wheels and rear sway bar, fully redone suspension front and back with Koni shocks. The amount of work I've done to it is insane lol but I love it and can't seem to get myself to sell. I agree with you on the older ones. My wife has a 2006 E60 530XI 6 speed manual. The amount of bullshit I've had to deal with on hers makes mine look like an 89 Corolla.

The E39 is such a classic car, I tried to get my daughter to buy one but she opted for a new car after college. The only BMW I would buy today would be a 635CSi but they have become stupidly priced for even a rusted out one. I am happy the 89 six speed convertible, it is sporty enough with more than enough power for me these days.

Oh yeah I could do a 635CSi. But I think once I get rid of my E39 I'm going to be done with BMW for a while lol.

At least BMW offers support for the older cars like the 635 through the Classic program.

I was really surprised at the lack of quality aftermarket support for older GM cars when I got my first Corvette. I can still buy OE made in Germany parts for my 20 year old BMW no problem.

Porsche BMW and MB do a lot better job at supporting their older vehicles for sure.

BTW, on the hubs, take a look at the X-tracker kit. Most likely the last front wheel bearings you will ever have to buy.
