I don't remember if I shared this with you all, I know I did in the 1st Gen section. Goodyear Aerospace (at that time Goodyear Aircraft) had a hand in the first couple (maybe more) Corvettes. When I worked in Plant D (Defense Systems) and the old timers found out that I was into Corvettes, they told me that they built the first couple prototype bodies there, due to their expertise in fiberglass. After the war (WW2) and somewhat in the Korean War (I think) GAC was building coffins to keep the work force employed. It was because of this expertise that lead them to be involved. Was it the whole bodies, or just parts, I cannot say, I have not found anything prior to 1953 documentation wise.
It took me FOREVER to find an official Goodyear Document showing their early involvement in the C1's. The document is prior to 1963 which is when the company changed its name from Aircraft to Aerospace.
If you page down you will find the page where there is a picture of a Corvette.
