I sold my C5 a couple of years ago and bought a Bronco. Nothing against the Bronco, I have really enjoyed it. But I really missed having a Corvette in the garage and while the C5 was a great car, it's always been the C4 that gets me. From way back in 1983 when I saw a brand-new black '84 sitting in the Wendy's parking lot in Calhoun GA. It looked like a spaceship had landed.
I also really miss my ZR-1, what a fantastic car. Never should have sold that one, but you always move forward.
I went shopping and I think I found a unicorn, completely lucked into it and jumped quickly. It's a 1994 Black Rose Metallic with the light tan interior in pristine 44k mile condition, probably my favorite color combination. That alone would have been enough. But throw in a 6 speed, Z07 and FX3, and the clear top and it's a unicorn I couldn't pass up and I bought it yesterday. And after a 3.5 hour drive home in the rain, a cleanup will be required immediately. Here are a couple pics, in the parking lot right after I signed the bill of sale, and a nice shot of the interior. It's good to be back.
Congratulations on finding a great car! It looks very clean and I love the color.
I have a soft spot for '94 6 speeds. I had two of them and they were fun to drive and reliable. I daily drove my white one about a 100 miles per day and it made me look forward to the drive.
The drive home was great, in spite of the rain. I remembered why I like these cars so much, dead straight tracking and very smooth, completely relaxing to drive long distances. This is my first late C4 with the updated seats and they were very comfortable. Not quite as good as the seats in my 90 (most comfortable seats in any car, at any price), but still excellent...better than the C5 for sure.
That's a beautiful car. Congrats. I'm sure you'll enjoy it. My '94 also has the sport seats, and they are very good, although I found the base seats in my '96 to be even more comfortable.
