So years ago, I purchased a six speed transmission for my 94 C4. It’s been languishing in my hangar for years and I asked my mechanic to install it when he found out it was their “racing” transmission (ZR1) with a longer output shaft. What do I do with it now? My C4 tranny is good at 163,000 miles.

The ZR1 trans has a longer input shaft. You can have the shorter input shaft put in. There are two different input shafts. One for "black" tag transmissions, and one for blue tag transmissions. PM me with the number on the back of the output shaft and I can tell you which you have for certain.
The ZR-1 has a longer 'input shaft' NOT output. There should be a label on the side of the transmission with several lines of information. Post a snapshot of that label and the transmission can be identified correctly for you.
I did state that the input is longer. The output shaft is the only way to guarantee that it is a "Black" or "Blue" or sometimes grey which I have never seen. There is a number on the back of the OUTPUT shaft that identifies the internals to be one or the other.

it’s a blue transmission. If changing the input shaft makes it fit in my C4, I don’t need to get rid of it unless I get rid of the car. Thanks for the info.
