My car has always been a "rise from your grave" 85, I was removing all of the mouse activity and garbage carpet today and found this "repair" work. How bad is this? It drives fine, I plan to stick deadener over it so that'll hold it together too.
Nick in your initial post you state: "How bad is this? It drives fine, I plan to stick deadener over it so that'll hold it together too." When someone suggests you have a body shop take a look toevaluate "How bad is this" you comment back "Because I have no intention of fixing it or really give a crap." And you just want a general discussion..
HUH?

If the patch job is bonded nicely to the smc, leave er be. If its flaking off because a PO used the non-smc compatible bondo or polester resin, for the price of a couple tubes of smc compatible panel bond, personally id peel the stuff off (again, only if its not bonded right) and id sand it all and apply a fresh panel adhesive bond. But thats just me lol. You can also just leave it like u say. (i use frostking as deadner and reflectix as a trans tunnel heat shield over 1 layer of frostking stuck with 3m spray 90).
I ended up not going either. Decided to go mow our lawn because I would of had to drive there later with all the weekend traffic so I left at 600 am.
Probably should have guessed there was more damage by the rather poor repair to the quarter panel... Ill be at both shows next year. and of course my "L83 C4" plate showed up monday.

Like I said it drives fine so I'm not super worried. Looking forward to seeing you again at the next round of shows. I should be painted then.

Have fun with your car!
Going to try this as I burned my leg on the bare trans tunnel+butyl deadener I stuck on, thank you for the idea.
