So I just got my restoration project running, all the coolant had been drained when I replaced practically every sensor and drained the radiator for old coolant. Although I also installed an egr delete which supposedly makes the engine run lean. There's been white smoke coming out of my engine pretty consistently and I'm not sure why. Would the egr delete be that serious to cause the white smoke or do I just have to wait for the new coolant to recirculate. My gauge still says low coolant and ive been adding more and more every time i start the engine for 30 ish seconds... Sorry if these questions seem obvious, I just want to make sure I don't mess anything up as I've been working on this project for a long while...
There is a kit ( I think it can be rented ) that fits over at the radiator and you use it to find out if you have a leaking head gasket. You install it on the radiator and insert a dye into the tool and run the engine and if the color changes, there a problem with a leak of exhaust into the cooling system. I'd look it up, I think it canbe rented at Autozone or other tool outlets. Sorry i don't have the full information on it.
