I have a 1996 Collector Edition Corvette with an LT1 A4. What would be the best headers to get and where can I buy them? Thanks in advance for any help. Sorry for the newbie question, but I couldn't find a search feature
Good question, and you will get many different opinions. The traditional thinking is that shorty headers offer insignificant HP gains, so go with long tube headers for max horsepower. The problem is that there are only a few brands of long tubes for the '92-96 C4 and they are awfully expensive. You also will need to fabricate the catalytic convertor connections to retain emissions compliance. Your major shorty brand is Hooker or TPIS. And I am not sure about long tubes except for TPIS. I think Lingenfelter also has a long tube header and maybe Exotic Muscle. I have been wondering if Dynatechs can be made to fit a C4. Long tubes probably aren't worth the money unless you have major motor modifications. :auto:
Shortys really will do you no good in terms of HP, maybe 5hp at best, but there is a weight savings.
Longtube headers from Hooker or TPiS are really the only way to go, but you will have a rough time finding a cat to fit in there with longtubes if you have emissions testing. It will probably require some welding/cutting.
