Default Triggered factory security system? I think?

Was working on my 85 C4 this past weekend. I had to take the passenger door panel off to figure out why the outer door handle did not work.
Got that part figured out.
But when I went to start the car again it would not crank. Was a clicking noise under the dash and then the horn started going off.
So I am assuming i triggered the security system somehow but The car either has had the Vats system deleted as the key does not have the chip in it. So I was a little stumped.
I disconnected the battery for a while and once hooked back up it started fine.

Am I thinking right that something in the security system triggered the no crank/start? if so how do i disable it completly.

Remove your dic, pull the 10 amp fuse behind it

You triggered it by messaging with the door sensors. It's not VATs

it is the display where the BRAKE and other lights come on during various events.

There is a fuse block behind it. (unless you have a larger issue, i'd leave it alone if I were you)

D I C, Driver Information Center

Above the radio below the dash vents.
On the left is all the switches to select between different displays on the digidash and pick between metric or standard measurements. On the right half the warning lights for seatbelt, security, check engine, door adjar, hatch open, choke, overdrive engaged

Can you explain more about what you mean?
What can it hurt if I do not need the security system?

When you dig-in to get access to it, you'll be wondering if it is worth the trouble.
There should be you tube videos on how to get to them. Or, you could get a FSM for reference.

Borrowing another member's picture to illustrate (not to increase his anxiety - but simply because it shows the panel quite well)....

You're looking for fuses behind that panel just above his radio. Your radio will probably need to come out first. I was in there while replacing my radio and didn't even see the fuses. But, mine are still functional so I didn't sweat it (yet).

Ok Thanks for the info.

Another question on the DIC.
What would happen if a person took it completely out?
Not making this thing into an all original show car.

Well for one you wouldn't be able to switch between coolant temps and volts, oil pressure and oil temp. The other one's are just trip meter & mpg related, and not as vital to switch between as the others
