I have an '86 and they have long plastic door sills, with no carpet. Those of you with '88 up; do these cars have plastic sills under the carpet or does it mount directly to the body? I know yours have the short uppers. Thanks
I had 1989, and my Sills were carpet, and replaced them with new set, there was nothing under there, also installed chrome shield in the picture, to stop the rubbing of the carpet getting in and out.
My 88 35th anniversary edition has carpet all the way up, and I just bought the plastic sill covers. Just to keep from wearing the carpet, because as we all know getting in and out requires some interesting gyrations.
My ‘89 has fiberglass shells under the carpet. As for changing to carpet from early plastic, there might be an issue with the parking brake lever assembly. That changed with the plastic to carpet change in ‘88.
