solenoid question
i'm having issues starting my car in the morning when its cold. i thought it could be my starter but a friend of mine says it could be a solenoid. i know this is a stupid question but what exactly is a solenoid?? i have heard of them in cars but never knew their function. also does anyone know what the average price of one is and what labor would be to install it??

he is talking about the starter solenoid. but on a vette this solenoid is part of the starter!
it is basically a big relay, that switches the current to the starter when you turn the key.
how is your battery?
maybe if you take the starter out and clean and regrease it, it might be fine
