1. The cop says ‘older corvette’ to me is one from the 50s or 60s
many people here have modernized theirs to defeat new corvettes
2. ive thought about extending my rollcage across the windshield and down the pillars to better protect against these kind of impacts where the bumper of my car will be below the bumper of a larger vehicle
3. Ive also thought about putting some kind of rear rollcage to protect the fuel tank from rear end style collisions (someone hits you in the rear
4. evidence of speed. The stock brakes stink, hope they werent the 12” diameter ones
thats am area where ‘older’ definitely means ‘worse’
Forgive my ignorance but in the video the cop says there are massive skid marks, when
did Vettes get ABS?
1986. Trucks also have ABS. The "massive skid marks" comment caught my attention as well. My thought was "ABS wasn't working on a 30 year old car?"

We don't know, but this an important detail.) An ancillary explanation would be that the truck did pull out in front of the Corvette and the driver didn't have time to react or if he did, the ABS in his car did function. So back to weight of the truck on the Corvette wheels locked them up.
I watched the video again. I see something that may have something to do with the speed this guy had on.
That is another intact C4 with its hazards on. The person standing next to it appears to be the young lady in my clip below. Did the gal the dead guy was racing trying to impress with his new car (paper plates) stop and stick around? Looks like she did.
"Truck drivers" do not wear knee-high boots and leather mini-skirts. So the interview is not with the truck driver. Could the young lady be the driver of the second Corvette describing what happened?
These two drivers knew each other. She saw it happen, and saw the immediate aftermath. She will never forget it. I feel for her.
This actually happened not far from me. Early morning 2am-ish, paper plates, dude racing his "new to him" classic 93-ish. I don't know the details of the second corvette. I have a 90 that looks just like it to my friends who many of which were calling me that morning when they saw the news. I take my son to school when it is still dark so I got a panicked call from my wife also. Just like with motorcycles, with power comes responsibility. Unfortunately, some can't handle it. One of my colleagues said the car went sideways under the rear bumper of the trailer or similar and was dragged. That kind of matches the ripped up hood. Just a shame.
