Battery deal or preference?
Know of any deal on group 75 batteries for our cars? Everstart MAXX seems to be discontinued? So, $150 or less seems to be gone by the wayside.
Only two options I see are Duralast and DieHard. Both around $215 for a 3rd battery. I don't normally go for the best...assuming we're just paying for warranty (versus longer life). Anyway, I guess it's time again. My Everfast MAXX is draining .2V per day. It's 3.5yrs old...so prolly time. (I COULD keep it charged and it "works" but I'm starting to not trust it.)
Can't say I see anything better out there (and no, I'm not spending $300-$400+ on a deep cell)
If I'm missing any options, please let me know. (Probably need to measure current drain...just for fun. But, it's been "hard" on batteries for 20yrs...and 2 alternator rebuilds.
Walmart "Value" $69. Same at the "plus" with a shorter warranty. If the Value makes you uncomfortable, Costco sells Interstate for less that $100 last I knew.
Best battery prices around where I live are at farm supply stores. I've personally bought at least 5 batteries (different vehicles) from Rural King and have had as good luck with them as any car battery. Last battery I bought for C4 cost me around $65, on sale.
i've had my best luck with walmart batteries. the last two i had were interstate and NAPA gold - both lasted a couple years. seems to me the previous walmart lasted some seven years. pro-rated warranties are a joke!
Probably off-topic, but few really drive their Corvettes in any regular sort of way. On my street alone there are three Corvettes. Two C4s and a C8. And then there's Corvettes scattered elsewhere all through the development, too. Mostly C4s, oddly.
They hardly ever move.
So the batteries basically just sit there and deplete. The C4s often have a parasitic drain some place, too, that in many cases isnlt really all that noticeable until you do finally go to run it and it's effectively dead.

This is a good reason to use a charger/maintainer like a CTEC MUS4.3 which keeps the battery at full charge over long periods of inactivity.

Chumpvette turned me onto those CTEC ones. They're the most reliable ones I've used so far. I feel like I can trust them to work right.
I had a ''Battery Tender'' but it boiled a battery. That thing always acted squirrely.
I'm pretty happy with my Duracell batteries from Sam's Club. I bought two in July, 2023, date coded June, 2023. One went in almost immediately and one sat until October of this year. The one that sat, fired right up when I tried it. Not too shabby. Three year warranty through Sam's Club, too. I have C-Tek tenders on both, too.

AFAIK, the lowest level EVERSTART Walmart battery has CCA around 550. THough their website SAYS 600CCA for their "Plus" battery, it actually says 700 CCA on the battery. So, I decided to buy one of those with a 2yr warranty for $105...which is half most other 3yr warranty batteries. I'm happy getting 2/3rd the warranty at half the price.
Though...it's not TONS of fun to pull the rocker panel and fender just to get it out. LOL (Meaning a longer change interval wouldn't be a bad thing!)
Thanks to everyone for the feedback. Had I not double-checked to make sure the EVERSTART MAXX battery was discontinued...then found out the lesser "PLUS" model has the same CCA, I probably would have tried Costco next.

I brought a tester with me the last time I bought one. Though the labels say 550/700, they both tested around 650, FWIW.
Kevin here 1992 Polo Green Coupe. A bit off topic but kinda along the same lines. The PO installed a battery disconnect contraption so he could disconnect the battery due to a persistent draw. I found that the draw was a junk aftermarket alarm. I removed the alarm this summer but not the battery disconnect. I will get a battery tender as I usually do on my other corvettes so my question is... can I attach the battery tender with this in place, and if so, does it matter if the lever (battery) is engaged or disengaged? Or should I get rid of it?

I would keep the disconnect switch installed. I put one on mine and use a battery tender. As long as the terminals of the battery tender are connected to the positive battery connection and the other to the negative or a good ground you are good and will keep the battery charged whether you have the switch is engaged or disengaged. With a switch you can work on you car if need to disconnect the battery. Instead it is just the lever to disengage the power to the car.

I am going the same route with my 95 vert,
I just replaced my Ecm and opti and low power batteries seem to me to be risking damaging the electrical system. I live in Florida so I do not want gel batteries, definitely won’t use lithium ion (napalm), will choose between ac Delco, or the 2 other brands you mentioned.

Thank you for the quick response and advice. Very good to know moving forward.
