Guldstrand was an old corvette racer. He had a shop and was mainly a suspension guy.
The GS80 has suspension work and than a a 370ci engine… I know it wasn’t a 383. He did an updated version called the GS90 in the 90’s that had different body work.
It was built in Burbank, California by former GM engineer and race car driver Dick Guldstrand. It used a Chevy Performance 4 bolt main block, Manly rods, aluminum heads, long tubes, and a full suspension. It's a fun ride.
I have a 89 gs80. I only know of 3 other cars out there. Neat to see your car. Mine is a red covert with a optional hard top. TRACO, motor, Gulstrand suspension, 6 speed zf manual. I was able to track down the 2 previous owners. Mine is number 14 in the series. There are various period magazines out that have press articles about the cars.
Mine is number 37. I am the second owner and it is all original. I have all the original paperwork including correspondence between the shop and the owner. The guy I bought it from also had a C4 ZR1 and a Lingenfelter modified C4 ZR1.

Well this is interesting, your number 37. I have 17 or so car mags that have featured a good bit of the cars. Several of the late nintys mags speculate that 25 to 35 cars were modified in the gs series. Although they cover themselves by saying records were not through. Does your vin pad on the block have the original owners last name stamped and the cubic inches? There really is not much on the web about these cars. In your paperwork did you get the dyno sheet on your car?
I have a 91 that looks to be a GS80, all the same mods. No identification on the car, and not much history from the previous owner. Hopefully someone can tell me more about it, it was sold at Mecum in 2022.

Send me a p.m., with your contact info.
I know a great deal about the GS80. I have done a bunch of research and digging on them. If you read this thread I own no. 14 in the series of cars produced. I will go to the mecum results on the auction and check your car out. The guy that had the white one on the tread just disappeared never went anywhere.

Would you be willing to post some pictures of the engine compartment, the undercarriage of the car (front & rear suspension) and ID plate/s...etc. Basically photos that show/highlight what makes it Guldstrand!!!? I'm fascinated with these kind of special cars, like Callaways, prototype ZR1s, Corvette Challenge cars, etc...I would sincerely appreciate and thoroughly enjoy getting an education on these!!! This request is also open to any Guldstrand owners!👍
I added a few more pics to my original comment. It looks to have all the GS80 Guldstrand mods. I don’t know what the numbered tag is on the windshield, maybe someone can decode it for me. Super cool cars!
GS80's had a numbered plate on the dash to the left of the steering column. Also, GS80's had siamesed runners on the traco engines and came with trace headers, so a traco header flange doesn't mean a traco engine. It appears to be modified at Guldstrands shop, but it's not a GS80.
