Default Top question

Got some cracks in my glass top, was thinking of a way to fix it. Was thinking taking it off, using glue to glue up cracks, sand it all smooth top and bottom.
taking some fiberglass resin and mat, and covering top and bottom.
use a headliner of some sort to cover fiberglass on bottom and sanding the top smooth and either paint it or use wrap... think it might hold up or think it will crack?

Hate to say it. You're wasting your time. Nothing sticks to these dang acrylic tops. Silicone will but eventually shrink and peels, glue might for a day or 2 but when you drive the top flexes and the glue won't hold. Fiberglass doesn't even stick. People have scuffed the top and laid down resin, for the entire thing to peel off in 1 sheet. About the only thing that will stick is whatever mystery adhesive they use to stick the acrylic to the frame. There's plenty of YouTubers and threads on here of people popping holes thru the top and fiberglassing both sides at once, but it doesn't last or it separates and whistles really bad when they drive

I'm going to try and reglue my crack then smooth it out and apply exterior window tint film to it to try that, but I'm not hopeful. I've been scouring the usual local for sale sites for a fiberglass top, but everyone is buying them up and ditching acrylic

I bought a used one on here a couple years back but it cracked a few months later.

I ended up just covering it with vinyl unti l get around to buying a new top.

It hasn't spread or leaked.

I won't buy another used one again.

Probably just gonna buy new replacement acrylic and do it myself.

Yeah I had mine covered in a big piece of vinyl for almost 20 years. It started cracking and peeling around year 15. I really should have pulled it off and redone it earlier, but had too many other irons in the fire with family
