Sold my C5 last year and now looking at a 93' C4. Friend of mine (who has a beautiful C6) but likes the C4, said it's not a desirable vette. You don't see many on the road or at car shows. The one i am looking at has 63k miles on it.. looks nice from the pictures.. clean title.. asking $12,500. The C5 i owned had a bunch of issues during the 4 years that I had it. My question is, am I likely to be dumping money into the C4 ? And is $12,500 a reasonable asking price? My friend said at the MOST 9k it's worth. Not more then that. Just looking for some other opinions/advice.
So first off, the wheels are backwards. The saw blades point the other direction Easy to fix, just swap em left and right
You didn't mention the year anywhere but I can see it's an LT1 with a ZF6, so that makes it worth more than an auto. $12.5 is probably about right for a 91-96 LT1 ZF6 vert.
Only way your friend's claim of max of $9k would be accurate is if it was an auto with interior issues or a manual version that has a known/stated run ability issue

From pics it looks like a highly optioned 6 speed in good condition. If are no major problems I don't think $12.5 is too far off and the price is probably negotiable. Check the date codes on the tires.
Any car that's 30+ years old can have/develope issues. I don't think that 93 Corvette is undesirable. I recently purchased a black convertible 96 6 speed so I may be biased.
I think its a good buy at 12.5k. You do have to remember that the car is more than 30 years old and will likely need maintenance and some parts replacement as time goes on. These cars are reliable and fun to drive. Maintenance is fairly straightforward and parts are typically not astronomical in price.
Looking at the car, it's desirable right off the bat given it's color combination. The 6spd manual transmission sells the car after that. It has sport seats, FX3 suspension, and the Bose Gold stereo. It's a very high optioned car and appears to be in very nice condition overall. You remedy the backwards wheels and the car will look amazing!
Regarding desirability... Your friend has a point. The C4 is the least appreciated Corvette because it ran for so long and was so successful. There's a massive performance difference between an 85 and a 93. There's also a lot of bad information out there about the C4 that drags values down. Claims about a weak frame, unreliable optisparks, etc.
The good news is that is changing, and the C4 is getting better representation and more respect for what really is the most important Corvette generation. Prices are going up.
That said, any old car can become a money pit. It's part of being a classic car.
