I bet this has probably been discussed before but are there any plans for a live chat area on the forum? I read in an old post that ther reason there isnt a chat room is that it would be hard to moderate. Heck, I'll moderate for ya. I am online hours and hours a day anyway. :D I and probably most people on the forum would probably like to see a chat room. If there arent any plans for a chat room is there anywhere else on the net where C4 owners can chat together? Thanx!

Sounds like a great idea. Although I probably wouldn't use it much, I'm sure some of you junkies would!
One downfall though, is that issues that come up in chat wouldn't get divided up well by subject and archived. From an OT standpoint, this obviously doesn't matter as much-- but when gearheads start up on a topic that interests me, I'd like to be able to access it without tracking it down in a chat room text. The thread posting method is much more resourceful.
I bet something like this would work well if evolved from the IM system. Users could chat here, and secure chats or leave them open to public, etc.

Re: C4 Chatroom? (C490Vette)
Ive done both thread based and real time chat for a LOT of years and the 2 are completely diff in flavor and use. Real time chat is almost always a more personal 1 to 1 environment compared to thread based forums or boards like this. Archiving would be rather problematic for real time chat and moderating is an exercise in frustration. I know as Ive ran chat and file sharing servers many, many times over the years. Frankly I doubt that a real time chat environment fits in with the direction the admins want this place to go. :blueangel:
I think that a live chat would have more people typing stuff like this, rather than Corvette stuff: "hi im nu here and i dont use punct or nething close to english but wuts ur asl"
