So I purchased a 1994 C4 Corvette that for all intents and purposes is a project car. Looking at the targa top that is in the car it has the little cone in the front mounting points for alignment which makes me believe that the previous owner change out the hardware from the 1994 to the older 1985 - Early 1986. Now I bought a 1984 or 85? Targa top that has that front alignment cone just like the one that my car came with thinking that everything should be fine. I tried fitting it on after I restored it (very pitted cracked paint every where) but it didn't sit flush, and it look like the back brackets didn't sit in nor did the front one. I'm unsure of what's not causing it to sit right. I plan in the morning to take pictures of the two targas side by side and their mounting points to attach to the post, but I was wondering what your guy's thoughts were as people who have owned the cars longer than I.
Edit: Thanks to WVZR-1 For sharing this link: https://mirrockcorvette.com/c4-parts-guide/targa-tops/
As illustrated in the images I have the 1984 mounting bolts at the front as it has that little alignment cone for both of the ones i bought. Pictures pending

Reason: Update with more info
Thanks! yea according to these images. I have Two Targa tops with the First Design Dated from 1984 to early 1986. And so, i can only assume that the mounting bracket at least in the front would also have to be the 1984 to E1986 for it to even seat properly. the only thing that looks even remotely different as far as i can tell is that the back brackets are different. So, this still leaves me in a but of a conundrum as to why they are not fitting properly.
