Hood locator bushing. Problem!

Hood locator bushing. Problem!
Through the years I have had to replace the hood locator bushings on a C4. I have broken most of the ones I have tried to replace(at least 50/50). I just ordered 4 from Ecklers for a 87 I am working on. Has anyone found a simple but effective way to install the hood locator bushings with out breaking off one of the tabs?

i always break one , so i order extras

I may have found the secret! I had a couple of old ones in some spare fender shields and I managed to pop them out of the fender shield with out breaking them when I went to install them in the car I was working on I got them aligned in the opening and instead of hooking one side in and then trying to get the other in I simply press down gently applying pressure to both sides at the same time and they slipped right in. I'll know more when I get the new ones from Ecklers Thanks Fosters or the tip on the heat gun!
