I am interested in purchasing this 1988 C4... the owner took meticulous care of it.. he said it needs absolutely nothing.. clean carfax.. 47,300 miles.. He is firm at $12,500.. does that seem like a fair/reasonable price? Thanks in advance.

So I believe yellow is a bit rare for C4's... other than that the stick is a plus and so is having 2 tops. Miles are good. He said it needs absolutely nothing.... Ask him the date codes on the tires, ask about the weather stripping, ask about heat and A/C operation. Ask about cruise control operation. Ask about the last time the trans was serviced, the coolant was flushed, if the rear end lube has ever been changed... Headlight operation, power seat operation.... If all this stuff checks out, then you might not have a whole lot of bargaining chips... None the less, Id try to offer at least a grand less and see what happens.... worst he can say is no,,,,

He has had the car for the last three years and he said that the coolant may have been changed before he purchased it and that it is as green as it can be. So he has never changed it himself. As far as the rear end, he said it goes by miles not years so it probably has not been changed.

that price for that quality of an early 4+3 car in yellow, that is what my local price would be. If you are looking for a very nice example in a sharp rare color grab it and enjoy.

In addition to what 81c3 said, I'd add ... do the overdrive gears in the 4+3 work?

Assuming you'll drive it and everything checks out, it seems reasonable to me

Good luck

Looking at pricing C4's and C5's are holding strong. The price seems very fair, especially considering mileage.
If you like the car, get a good PPI and pull the trigger.

First of all, it’s quite rare to find an 88 in unmolested, no hit condition. If all the sellers claims are verified buy the car. You would look long and hard to find another one like it

Hagerty shows a base '88 Coupe with a stick in #2 excellent condition at $18,500, $9,100 in #3 good...

I believe location is important. If local or close enough that you'll have no problems doing an inspection, doing a road test, and not requiring transportation means a good bit. If it's not local or close maybe it requires some thought.
