Error Codes from ALDL
My understanding was to jump the A terminal (top far right terminal) to the B terminal ( 1st port to the left of the A port) turn the key to the on position without starting the car and the check engine light should flash. thus providing an error code depending upon how many flashes with pauses.
*** UPDATE *** replaced the bulb and now I have the codes I was looking for thanks everyone.
when I jump the A terminal to the B terminal my cooling fan comes on but no check engine light.
Do I need to check all of the wiring on this car ?

The cooling fan does come on with ALDL jumpered, engine not running. So the ECM is responding to the jumper.
You have a 1985 to 1993, but what is the exact year?
I have an '84 so no use for the ABS switch.
The third pin is for ABS i'm guessing. Probably blank on my ALDL socket.
I hadn't noticed the Service Engine soon / Check engine light. as one other user suggested possibly the bulb is out.
I will carefully replace the bulb and recheck. good to know that jumping A & B will turn the cooling fans on and it is not a crossed wire.
Got a loit of learning to do. will be ordering a shop manual shortly which should assist some.
thanks
