260 is spicy. Pretty sure most gauges max out there, so could have gone over. Definitely sounds like it blew a head gasket. From the lack of oil/water situation, could have killed a bearign or two. . .
Any funny noises? First thing to do is a cooling system check to see if exhaust gasses are getting in. I'm assuming they are. At absolute minimum, I see head gaskets in your future. Stop driving the car until it's fixed.

This is great advice. The techs at all dealerships are very familiar with the engines in a C4. Dan
