Default Major differences from 93 to 94?

I've read about a few of the changes from '93 to '94. One was something to the dash or the guage cluster. What was this change exactly? Also, what about advantages/disadvantages of batch fire in the '93 to the sequential port injection in the '94. I'm looking at buying one of these years and would like any info about any of the changes! Thanks...

Dash is slightly differant where it raps around by the radio.
'93 has amber letters/lighting on dash. '94 has white.
All new seats in the '94
Don't know much about the differance in the LT1, but they have the same power. I think the '94 has the new Opti-spark.
No changes in outside apperance between the two.
Hope this helps.

Get the 94. Sequential injection is more efficient and you will get better mpg when you've not got your foot into it. Pretty sure 93 was still a speed density motor. At any rate the 94 is a MAF motor. The Opti is the same. '95 got the newer designed OptiSpark (vented). Also, the 94 allows flash programming of the ECM computer so you can use Hypertech Power Programmer or a laptop PC + LT1EDIT software to tweak the Engine mgt settings, air/fuel ratios etc (with LT1EDIT not with Hypertech), plus program cooling fans too.

93-94 switched to a PCM which has no chip inside, the whole unit needs to be programmed.

4L60E came in 94, versus the 4L60 in 93. E stands for electronic and the computer controls it.

Also on the dash, the steering wheel was changed to a an uglier 2-spoke type, and the handy glove box was replaced with a passenger's air bag. The newer steering wheel is less ergonomic, and the horn button is hard to hit in an emergency/panic.

On the positive side, the top of the dash pad is smoother and has less joints and seams, so there's less distracting reflection on the windshield. Also, the door panels got better . . . looks cool (like Orca the whale) in colors other than black, and has neato map compartments in the armrests.

On the seats, there are good/bad about both . . . but I'm getting a bit long-winded here, so I'll stop.

If you're looking at a drop-top, '94 was the first year of the glass back window. Definitely more desireable. The electronic control of the tranny in '94 allowed for much higher shift points at WOT. Shifted at 5700 RPM, which is extremely close to the 5850 RPM fuel cutoff. Other than that, changes were minor

Whichever year car I end up getting, it will definitely be a 6 speed coupe. I had a loan approved to buy a '94 on eBay (seller was a forum member) but it sold locally before I could contact him. My loan is good for 30 days though so I'm trying to find another one. I'm being kind of picky I guess, because I would like a Black/Black 6 speed car. Which year I end up getting may be determined by what comes available in the next month. I've found a Black 6 speed '93 w/ 102k for $10,500, but I'll keep looking around for another '94.

Both years had ASR and PKE right?

Thanks for the info. Keep it coming!

The guages are a very cool orange at night, but they read backwards from low to high very weird, so a pegged temp gauge would look cool. Also in 94 there's no wing on the side of the dash that extends to the console. New steering wheel, horn button is hard to hit. Drink holder is impossible to use, to small for soda cans and 6 speed will hit it when put in reverse. New seats also in 94 I don't like 'em, not like the sport seats of the early C4s. 94 feels better at speed than 93.

I must say go for a 94 - Even though I love my 93. The 94 has upgrades worth considering, MAF for one. With the market the way it is I would look for a 96 LT-4. :steering:

94 has an airbag, new dash design and door panels, white guages and white on the temp and radio controls etc.. No glovebox on passenger side but theres little compartments in the door panels(cool!). The seat design is different as well. The sport seats look much better than the basic ones IMO. Sequential injection is much more efficient as well.

downsides? few.. the 94 door panels arent smooth, you can see bumps in the panel like something is pushing on them from behind, especially when armor-alled. White faces look cheesy In my opinion , bmws still use orange - theres a reason for it. sequential injection has a maf. While its more accurate it limits max hp on high flowing motors ( strokers etc.) Last the 93 dash is more like a cockpit. It has a dash that separates the passenger from 'touching' the radio (lol). The seats are much more comfortable, road and track called them the best seats ever designed! And last but not least the 93s, ALL of them are 40th anniversary vettes that have a 40 emblem stitched into the headrests.

I like the 94s, but 93s get my vote.

Well now I'm kind of torn. The 93 seems to have the "cooler" dash and much better seats (with the cool 40th stitching :D ), but the 94 has the sequential fuel injection and MAF. Decisions, decisions....

Oh, the '93 I found has Power Effects exhaust on it, too...

the interior looks much much better on 94-96 IMO. the dash is much smoother and the doors panels are simply awesome, espicailly the red or tan ones. also, the passenger side knee bolster is vinyl/leahter instead of carpet...The gauges lok much cleaner in white than they d oin orgae as well, and everything still lights up orange at night... :D

:iagree: I looked for a 94 because i like the look of the interior that much better, even the black door panels look better in my opinion, and the dash does look smoother and dont rattle as bad as the 90 to 93'

MAF vs. MAP sensor is much of a muchness. I prefer my '93 with MAP. But the change from batch fire to sequential injection is worth having.

Here is a link to some used vette prices. You might want to compare what the monetary market thinks about the '93 vs. the '94:
