Default Where Does this Sensor Go??

While changing out my water pump and cleaning the driver's side engine gasket surface on my '94 Corvette, I noticed this sensor had come loose. Looks like its way down into the engine on the driver's side or possibly connects to the Opti-Spark.
Anyone have any idea where it goes? Looks like some kind of magnetic positioning sensor or vacuum line???

Thanks for your help with this...

In taking a closer look it appears the line originate s on the passenger side near the fuel rail, with a check valve - so I'm assuming at this point its a vaccum line that goes to vent the MSD Opti Spark.

Is it possible to re-install this line to the lower Opti vaccum port without having to remove the harmonic balancer? Doesn't seem possible.

94 doesn't have a vented opti. I don't recall ever seeing that in my old 94. but its been 8 years since I worked on one

Yes - but the MSD Opti for 93-94 shows an additional port and comes with a vacuum line with the check valve that looks simlar to what I have installed. Since I didn't do the install myself, I'm not 100% sure of what I have - but I suspect its the vented MSD Opt that they sell for 93-94 LT1 engines.
But now looking at it, it seems that the only way to re-install the vacuum line is to remove the balancer held on by 3 bolts.

Yes, That is to vent the opti. You see it in this picture. You might just still have the short rubber hose attached to the opti. Dan

Thanks, Dan. I'm on YouTube now looking at ways to remove the flywheel without damaging the Opti. So far doesn't look like too much fun in store ahead.

Doug, Keep in mind it was removed when the opti was installed. It is usually only bad the first time it is removed. I would not worry a bit. There is one trick you can do. Loosen each of the three bolts like one turn. Start the car for 20 seconds. This will help break it loose. I assume by "flywheel" you are talking about the balancer. Dan

Doug, When you get all done here is how to test if it is working properly. You will have another hose the attaches to the intake. Start the engine and remove the hose to the intake. Take a 1/4" x 1/4" piece of paper and put it on the end of this tube. It should stay by itself even if turned upside down. This will confirm there is suction and airflow through the opti. Dan
