So in another thread I solved my non running fan motor. Replaced motor and everything fine. Took Mrs. Boomer to our favorite drive-in burger place where you turn on your headlights to place your order. Well, drivers side light only opens half way. Well crap just what I need. Jump onto the forum that night and find an 8 year old thread recommending trying the lights with the hood open in case there is a wire or something in the way. Sure enough I had dislodged the wheel well to hood seal while putting the new motor in. It was half hanging down by the vacuum ball. Easy fix but I could have noticed it earlier if I had half a brain.
I had been driving it without a working fan motor planning my routes to avoid stopping. It worked for the most part but one trip I risked it a little too much and it reached 245* before I got it back in the garage. It was gurgling a bit but I saw no leaks. That convinced me though to wait for the new fan motor before any more risky behavior.
So new fan motor and I notice just a few drops of coolant in my catch pan on the floor, thought no big deal, went for a nice drive with a working fan motor. Well... still reaching over 210 when it used to always stay in the 184-190 range. I pop the radiator cap this morning and hello no coolant visible. Grab a long transmission funnel and top of with straight antifreeze. Todays trip nice and cool 184-190 just like I like it.
Thank you everbody I feel better now. Next step is restoring original wiring to high pressure switch and CTS so I can try to get the AC working again. I have 4 cans of R12 and a proper recharge hose once I get to that point. I'll be putting in a lower temp CTS and thermostat as well.
Really smart GM engineers built these C-4s, they know how they work it's for us to figure them out it's kinda like a cross-word puzzle on 4-wheels .. Over engineering comes to mind ,it's in the manual right , I can't figure that deal out either ,The GM Corvette line techs at the time used the Tech 1 to fill in the blanks ,if you read the manual it says: Do this do that if can't figure it out plug in the Teck 1 , very few has assess to one so we are on or own ,A good example I had a no fire deal with my 93 LT-1 looked for days plug in a Teck-1 Bam 5 min later bad plug . Just saying these old C-4 with their old HI tech systems can be a challenge.
Yep, pouring antifreeze into the radiator like it's free. Heard something tinkling on the garage floor. Put it up in the air again and closed the petcock. duh.

95% of Corvette owners who do their own work will tell you they have made a dumb mistake on occasion.
