Default Connector identification help needed

Wire nuts are from previous owner. Working out bugs from previous owner. Trying to identify this plug and where it’s supposed to go / what it does. Runs up the drivers side. I think it may have something to do with lights. Any help is appreciated, car is an ‘84 thanks

Do you have the FSM(Factory/Field Service Manual)? If you do you could start by using it to eliminate the relays that are on the car currently in original locations. For starters there would be 3 relays for the headlamps mounted to a bracket in front of the left side front wheel.

If you don't have the FSM I can help you and deliver it today regardless of your location.

What doesn't work? Cooling fan has a relay that would be under-hood vicinity of booster

Hello thanks for the reply. No I don’t have FSM, the car still has all 3 headlight relays in their original location. Fan relay is there but not mounted in its original location. Fan works. Fuel pump relay has been unbolted from original location but it works, car runs. Headlights; only one flips up sometimes. I found where you can apply power directly to motors to make them operate, haven’t tried that yet. Turn signals work in rear, nothing up front, that’s why I think this plug has something to do with it. Other thing is Speedo and tach don’t work on instrument cluster. Every other gage appears to work (oil press, temp, fuel, etc) I have read about Batee & been to the website. Thanks again, is there a FSM file available specifically for ‘84? Thanks again.

the wires are brown, light green, green and yellow. They appear to be for the turn signals and park lamps for the front of the car, I am unable to find where the connector plugs in to either the firewall or the harness.

I'm pretty sure that is your cooling fan relay and connector. The relay mounts where the two holes are under the master cylinder using plastic retainer clips like what you would use on bumperrs and such. It looks like the PO replaced the connector which explains the wire nuts. I would replace those with waterproof shrink tubing ASAP. I just went through this area myself as my fan had quit running. My PO had hotwired the fan to run all the time by clipping the green/white wire that comes from the AC high pressure switch and the coolant temperature switch (CTS) and grounding it directly to the chassis. Turned out my old fan motor was dead.

Here are pics of my connector.

The thick red wire is power from the battery via a fusible link, blue wire is from the 3 amp fuse for the relay, geeen/white wire is normally from the CTS and AC high pressure switch now hot wired to the chassis and black/red wire is power from the relay to the fan motor.

Hot wired to chassis.
Hot wired to chassis.

Some melted plastic from the old relay that I had to clean out.

Here is the '84 wiring if that helps.
