Took the 85 out from winter storage and took her out for a 30 mile round trip to clean out the cobwebs. About 3 miles from home after going over a set of railroad tracks I started getting a pretty loud thumping that sounded like it was right under me. Quieted down some when on the accelerator and became very noticeable when braking and coasting at slow speed. I didn’t dare push it over 30 the rest of the way home.
My first thought was UJoints, so I put it on jackstands and inspected the halfshafts. I did noticed a wheel bearing going out but it wasn’t growling or making any noise. Looking at the shafts I could not find any play whatsoever. I turned the wheels and didn’t notice any slack.
looking online told me that UJoints failure would be fairly obvious on inspection. I’m worried it’s something else.
I don’t want to throw money at it if it’s not the UJoints, although new ones won’t hurt anyway.
