Hi, I have a 1993 Coupe which I purchased this February. A couple of weeks ago, after a drive, the driver's window will only come up about an inch above the weatherstripping. It will go down, but up no farther than that. The motor powers it up and then it just stops. I removed the door panel - can't see anything blocking it or stopping it's progress. I cannot pull it upwards at all, even while operating the window switch. Any advice?
Althoughthis is a screensnip of the 1988 FSM the 93 will surely be similiar. Check out the grey box mention of an internal circuit breaker. It is possible that the mechanism is binding and tripping the circuit breaker. Or the motor could be going south and tripping on its own.
So, I checked out the switches - all good; cleaned them well. The motor does work in the down direction and for a bit in the up direction - so it makes me think that something is binding in the regulator. Before I tackled that job, I decided to take a drive to remind myself how much fun this car can be. While driving, I absentmindedly hit the up switch - and after a hiccup, it went up! I'm still going to dig into why, but now I can lock it, not worry about rain, etc... I will probably take the other door card off since there is also a problem with the locks.
