“Check Gauges” Warning
By way of background, I’ve had a94 for just over a year now and I really haven't had to do or learn much. It’s a car. I drive the hell out of it. Other that maintenance, there isn’t much to do, unlike my 73. For those of you with C3s, you’re always looking for the next thing that’s going to fail. You watch the gauges for a drop in oil pressure, an increase in temperature, listen carefully for that new grind or creak.
So it’s no surprise that I went into diagnostic mode this morning when I was greeted with a “Check Gauges” warning. What could that mean? Maybe a warning to run a diagnostic? I checked all of the gauges numerous times with nothing that I could see that was amiss. Temp and oil were fine, in a way, it was a good distraction because I was nursing it to the gas station as the “reserve fuel” warning had been on for a couple of days.
I made it to Costco and put in 18 gallons. I’ll say it was on reserve. Imagine my surprise when the “Check Gauges” warning was gone. Turns out that GM engineers just didn’t have the panel space for “Check your warnings you f’n idiot!”
