Becaus of the two vacuum lines attached my guess is EGR solenoid. The area with the Delco Remy logo is for the electrical connector no? On my '84 it looks similar. One vacuum line goes to the suction source and the other goes to the EGR valve.
If its a 1992, someone swapped the original magnesium valve covers to the later 93-96 composite valve covers. The composite valve covers were made of a material called thermoset polyester, but everyone just calls them composite.
Pretty straight forward - DR223 certainly hints the correct GM# would be 1997223 and that is EGR solenoid for LT1 '92 +. Date code could be argued but it certainly might not have even been the original.
Because some owners assUme that all C4 are the same and ask questions without noting the particular year of the car they're asking about, then a peep asks the year, I amuse and educate myself by attempting to narrow it down from details present in the pics.
As pointed out, the rocker covers have been changed. (Many cars on here are messed-up Heinz 57's.)
Did I get the automatic trans and Petris correct?
Bonus question: LT1 93-96 have composite valve covers. I assUmed that the rocker covers were correct for the year. So what detail did I look for to choose 1993 from 94 (or later)? from just what is visible in that pic? (WVZR will get it. Chump probably will. So will MazdaRx because his current project is a 95.)
